Barley

Barley - Jerusalem March 20 2023

Due to our personal disrupted situation, we couldn’t get away much from the desert here. There is no Barley down here.
Chana (Anke) was in Jerusalem March 20 2023. She saw some lone wild batches that were Aviv.

Barley Scriptures

If you want to determine the beginning of the year according to the ripeness of the barley, then you must first establish a firm understanding from the scripture and decide whether ONE omer/sheaf of barley is to be brought to the priest:

A) on behalf of all the people of Israel

OR

B) individually by each farmer

Here are some pertinent scriptures:

“take some of the first of all the fruit of the ground,
which you harvest …
put it in a basket, and you shall go to the place that YHVH your Elohim will choose, …

go to the priest who is in office at that time and
say to him,
‘I declare today to YHVH your Elohim that I have come into the land that YHVH swore to our fathers to give us.’

Then the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it down before the altar of YHVH your Elohim.

And you shall make response before YHVH your Elohim, …
“I bring the first of the fruit of the ground,
which you, O YHVH, have given me.’

And you shall set it down before YHVH your Elohim and worship before YHVH your Elohim.

11 And you shall rejoice in all the good that YHVH your Elohim has given to you and to your house …

Deut 26:2-5+11

“You shall not delay to offer the first of your ripe produce” Ex 22:29

“you shall bring the sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest” Lev 23:10

The key in all these verses is the “basket”.

A basket is only needed if the barley is ripe and prone to fall out.
For an Omer/Sheaf of AVIV barley - NO basket is needed.

Who is actually responsible to bring that Omer of barley to the priest?

The basket is the strongest hint that the first fruits are expected from the individual farmer.

The farmer who’s barley and oats are ripe earlier than everybody elses needs to put the grain in a basket to prevent the grains ? from dropping on his way to Jerusalem.

I believe B) to be the most scriptuaral approach when it comes to determening the biginning of the year based on the Aviv-barley.

Who is actually responsible to bring that Omer of barley to the priest?

Scripture seems to expect every farmer to bring His fristfruit to the priest who is in office at that time and to rejoice in all the good that YHVH Elohim has given to him and his house.

Abba Father wants YOU personally and individually to rejoice and not someone else in your place.
How do YOU want to respond to this?

The month that starts the year -

what was it called again?

"חֹ֣דֶשׁ הָאָבִ֑יב"

there are 6 occurrences where it says:

" chodesh hā·’ā·ḇîḇ "

Exodus 13:4
INT: to go the month of Abib

and again:

Exodus 23:15
INT: the appointed the month Abib for came

and again:

Exodus 34:18
INT: the appointed the month of Abib in the month

and again:

Exodus 34:18
INT: in the month of Abib came of Egypt

and again:

Deuteronomy 16:1
INT: Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover

and again:

Deuteronomy 16:1
INT: in the month of Abib brought

I know that not all simple questions have simple answers-

However here is my simple question:

Where in scripture does it say:

 "חֹ֣דֶשׁ הָתְּקוּפָה"

" Chodesh haTkufa "

shall the month be called that starts the year?

?

What is the significance of

roasted/parched "Aviv"

" aviv qalui " ?
"  אָבִ֞יב קָל֤וּי  "

Lev 2:14

regarding the beginning of the year

in light of Gen 1:14 ?

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

What was first❓

? Barley or ? Sun ❓

11 Then Elohim said,
“Let the earth bring forth vegetation:

seed-bearing plants ... And it was so.

12 The earth produced vegetation:

seed-bearing plants ...

And Elohim saw that it was good.

13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

The Fourth Day

14 And Elohim said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years.

Genisis 1

What will remain ❓

The Firstfruit or the Sun❓

the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of Elohim gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. Rev. 21:23

Aviv describes grain that can be roasted and thus offered as an firstfruit offering -

"aviv qalui" -  "אָבִ֞יב קָל֤וּי"   Lev 2:14

The mondern day translation of "aviv"
is simply the season of "spring"

However since we can't roast/parch the season of spring -
we deduce that the month of "aviv" is referring to the wave sheaf offering that starts the counting of the omer up to Shavu'ot
Leviticus 23:15

... you shall eat neither bread nor grain parched or fresh until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your Elohim: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

15 “You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering. 16 You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Lev 23:14-16

?

The significance of

the first day of the first month

In the Past:

On the first day of the first month you shall erect the tabernacle of the tent of meeting. ...

In the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, the tabernacle was erected. ...

Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of יהוה filled the tabernacle.

Exodus 40:2+17+34

In the FUTURE:

Thus says Adonai
In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a bull from the herd without blemish, and purify the sanctuary.

Ezek 45:18
